Alexandra Orr

With over 3 years teaching experience, Ally loves sharing the joy of playing violin and/or viola.

Ally began learning violin from the age of 4 from Ann Roffe, a student of Adelaide prodigy Lyndall Hendrickson.

Growing up in Gippsland, Ally travelled to participate in programs such as the Melbourne Youth Orchestra and Border Music Camp, as well as competing in local Eisteddfods. Ally has since completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne, studying viola under Simon Oswell and playing in the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, including touring to Singapore and Shanghai. She was also accepted into the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp in 2018 on viola. Professionally, Ally has played for Melbourne Opera, various musical theatre shows and loves playing as a chamber musician at weddings and events.

Allys teaching style stems from everything she has learned from her former teachers. This includes choosing pieces to suit the individual student so they can improve the techniques they need at that time. She is enthusiastic and especially loves working with kids, bringing stories to the music and a focus on having fun while learning the important techniques of playing a string instrument.
