Our Online Lessons Feedbacks
To Michael:
Hi Alla, the online lesson was fine. Under the circumstances, I think it was as good as can be expected. Michael is a very patient and encouraging teacher and I enjoyed listening to him and Aleks interact. Thanks for asking. We look forward to life getting back to normal soon as we are all sick of lockdown.
Vesna
Hi Alla, we are happy with Michael's online class. He even picked up some minor mistakes. However We can't wait to do face to face classes again. Hopefully this lockdown won't extend. Thank you for following up.
Ben
To Mitchell:
Hi Alla, Jae enjoyed his lesson, and was happy not to miss it because of lockdown. He did say he found it hard to hear Mitchell's guitar, but he would rather have it online than not at all.
Gerri
To Ana:
Hi Alla, the online lesson wasn't too bad. Sarah was able to follow most of Anna's instructions, with some support from myself. Anna could also share screen and demo play with an online website. I needed to hold the iPad all the time and switched between front/back cameras. I think it was better than I had expected. However, it's only 60-70% as effective as face to face. I think it will be ok for 1-2 weeks to maintain continuity. If the lockdown is longer than that, I might need to wait until we can do face to face lessons
Tuan
To Lucinda:
Hi Alla, Penny enjoyed the lesson, she had a lot of fun! Thank you!
Ileana
To Andy:
Hi Alla, The online lesson went well. The communication was clear and my boys enjoyed it.
Mindy
To Harry and Mitchell:
Hi Alla, both Sam and James said their lessons went quite well. They enjoyed them. The only issue seemed to be that sometimes Mitch and Harry had trouble hearing them play. I think this is to do with the microphones on devices they used for the Zoom. It wasn't a huge problem, but I thought worth noting for your feedback. The links worked fine and the lessons started on time. Thanks again for organizing remote classes.
Kerrie

Practice makes Perfect
We have all heard the saying that Practise makes perfect. This is especially true in the world of music. The famous Albert Einstein once said that “Genius is 99% hard work and only 1% talent”. All students have the opportunity and ability to become a great musician as long as they put in the effort and consistently practise their music every day. Here is some advice for our young musicians –
Daily Habits:
Get into a daily practice habit by "attaching" the music instrument practice to another very reliable habit - for example the habit of eating dinner or lunch. You could try to always practice from 5 – 20 mins immediately after dinner. Also perhaps consider offering dessert. Dessert is just one idea for a practice reward. You could try a few things & go with whatever works best as a practice motivator. Other rewards could be computer game time, watching TV/Netflix or pocket money.
Practice Content:
Only practice what we did during the lesson, try to master it before the next lesson. If you are unsure what to practice, check your teacher’s notes
Slow practice, short sections, repetitions
Use these two essential techniques: "slow practice", "short sections" and “repeat the same section several times” to master difficult exercises/pieces, play and say the notes names out loud, play and count out loud
